What Is In Your BaZi That Makes You Successful?
What should you look for in your BaZi that statistically puts you ahead of most of the population?
Put in another words, what factors in your BaZi chart that correlates with success?
The Approach: Inductive Reasoning
Instead of relying on traditional texts to guide our understanding and applying them directly to individuals, we take a data-driven approach. This means that we read what the data is directly telling us instead of following the usual path of starting with established knowledge. We analyze the patterns and trends that emerge from the data and we allow the data to reveal the unique characteristics of specific subsets of the population that set them apart from the general population.
We believe this innovative, data-first approach will uncover fascinating trends that you, too, will find engaging and insightful
Experiment Setup:
We analyzed data from 3,442 famous individuals sourced from Wikipedia and other prominent online platforms. These individuals span 70 diverse occupations, including athletes, scientists, entrepreneurs, politicians, actors, models, socialites, hackers, musicians, and more.
To create a control dataset, we generated 3,442 random birthdates. This approach assumes that births are evenly distributed across all twelve months and years, starting from 1900 to the present. However, we recognize that this assumption has its limitations. Historical events like World War I and World War II likely impacted population growth, disrupting the even distribution of births. Additionally, studies show seasonal variations in birth rates, which differ between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
While this assumption simplifies our methodology, we acknowledge it as a potential constraint in interpreting our findings.
Objective:
The goal of this study is to identify unique factors present in the BaZi charts of famous individuals. In simpler terms, can someone’s potential for success be predicted based on their BaZi chart? To validate our findings, we use randomized datasets as a control. Any differences that are not statistically significant within a 95% confidence interval are attributed to pure chance.
Statistically Significant Results:
1. Most Common Horoscope: Taurus
Perhaps surprisingly, western astrology distribution is statistically significant at 95% confidence level--meaning the distribution is not due to pure chance. Taurus (corresponding to the May births) is notably overrepresented in the famous people dataset. The distribution of horoscopes is not random and suggests a connection to success. In Chinese metaphysics, the month of May is translates to the animal Snake in your month pillar, with season of birth being Summer. In conclusion, those people whose Fire and Earth elements are prosperous due to the season of birth tend to overrepresent the population of successful and famous people. Could be this interpretation, or it could also be because more people around the world tend to be born in May! Note that our control group assumes equal distribution of births across the 12 months.
2. Useful Elements in the Natal Chart
- 34% of famous individuals have Earthly Branch combinations in their charts that create “useful elements” for their daymaster. This means, combinations that help to balance their charts. For example:
- A weak Yin Wood daymaster with combinations producing Wood (representing Parallel), which supports their strength and thereby bringing the chart to a better balance
- A strong Yang Fire daymaster with combinations producing Metal (representing Wealth), which weakens their chart and thereby bringing the chart to a better balance
- In comparison, only 29-30% of individuals in the control datasets have such combinations. Given the sample sizes of 3,442 for each dataset, this difference is statistically significant at the 95% confidence level.
Interesting Observations (Not Statistically Significant):
Dominant Gods: Eating God (EG) and Direct Wealth (DW)
- The most common Dominant Gods among famous individuals are:
- Eating God (EG): Associated with intelligence, creativity, and innovative problem-solving
- Direct Wealth (DW): Linked to responsibility, hard work, and skill in managing and accumulating wealth.
- However, the distributions of these Dominant Gods in the famous dataset are not statistically significant. When replicated in randomized datasets, Eating God and Direct Wealth also appear frequently by chance.
Supergod: Hurting Officer (HO)
- Hurting Officer (HO) is the most common Supergod among famous individuals. This god:
- Appears in both the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches (specifically Growth branches)
- Represents creativity, individuality, and a talent for self-expression—traits common among performers and innovators.
- Like Dominant Gods, the prominence of Hurting Officer in the famous dataset is not statistically significant.
First Impressions: Friend (F)
- Famous individuals often exhibit traits associated with Friend (F) as their External Character:
- Sociability, cooperativeness, and the ability to build rapport.
- For public figures, Friend can represent their fans or support network.
Daymasters: Yang Earth Dragon
- The most common daymasters in the famous dataset are:
- Yang Earth Dragon (77 individuals)
- Yang Water Tiger
- Yin Earth Ox
- Conversely, the least common daymasters include:
- Yang Wood Dragon
- Yang Wood Tiger
- Yang Earth Dog
- However, these distributions are statistically insignificant and can be replicated in randomized datasets.
Daymaster Strength: 20-50% Being the Most Common
- Daymasters are categorized as very weak, weak, strong, or very strong based on seasons, rooting, and resource elements.
- 20-50% strength: Most common (37% of both datasets).
- Above 70% strength: 25-26%.
- Below 20% strength: 15%.
- Daymaster strength shows no significant correlation with success.
Harm, Clash, Punishments, Destruction: Not Predictive
- Unfavorable structures (Harm, Clash, Punishments, Destruction) are present in the natal charts of famous individuals but do not correlate with success:
- Harm: 15% in famous people, 14% in control.
- Destruction: 15% in both datasets.
- Punishment: 5% in both datasets.
- Clash: 16% in famous people, 15% in control.
- Differences between datasets are negligible.
Other Structures
- Structures like Heaven and Earth Combine (HEC) and Heaven Friend Earth Counter (HFEC) show no significant differences between famous and control datasets.
Conclusion:
Analyzing a BaZi natal chart alone does not provide reliable predictive power for success. While it can offer insights into personality, tendencies, and potential challenges, the chart on its own is insufficient to determine future achievements. Success, it seems, depends on factors beyond what the natal chart can reveal, such as luck pillars and external circumstances.
